Lambros Th. Doulos

Dr. Lambros Doulos is an Associate Professor at the School of Applied Arts and Sustainable Development of the Hellenic Open University with scientific subject Lighting Technology. He holds a PhD from the National Technical University of Athens, a degree in Physics and a Master of Science degree in Environmental Physics. He completed his Post Doc Research from 2017 to 2019 from the University of Thessaly, Architectural department (Post Doc Thesis: Zero Energy Lighting System for Schools using clean energy production from PV panels). As a Researcher works in research programs, measurements, studies and lighting projects. To date, he has participated in 75 research projects from which more than 100 publications in scientific journals, international conferences, national conferences and national press have been published. Some of his research interests are the rational use and saving of energy in lighting systems, the use of daylight in buildings, the development of innovative photosensors, the function of the human eye and the derived correlation between lighting, health and well-being, the evaluation of lighting installations in buildings, streets and tunnels, lighting design and improvement of lighting installations, street lighting, light pollution, minimizing its negative effects and creating protected areas, tunnel lighting and lighting measurements both in street, tunnel and interior areas. He has authored 2 books on lighting design and 8 chapters of collective volumes in corresponding books. He has also participated as a member of committees of Technical Instructions and legislation (KENAK 2017, KENAK 2021, TOTEE 20701-1 / 2017, 20701-4 / 2017, 20701-7 / 2021 “Artificial and Daylighting of Buildings”), as a member of the CIE International Lighting Committee (participation in 5 technical committees- JTC 18 (D3/D4): “Lighting Education” since 2019, TC 4-61: “Artificial Lighting and its Impact on the Natural Environment” since 2019, JTC 15 (CIE-ISO): “Lighting of Indoor Workplaces“ for revising ISO/CIE 8995-1 since 2018, TC4-53 “Tunnel lighting evolution ” since 2016 and TC4-51 “Optimization of Road Lighting”) and the ISO committee (participation in 1 technical committee) in drafting instructions and regulations. He has participated as a speaker in numerous lighting conferences. He has collaborations with lighting companies and has carried out numerous lighting projects and studies. He is a member of ASHRAE and the CIE International Lighting Committee (participation in 6 technical committees) and the ISO committee (participation in 1 technical committee) in drafting instructions and regulations. and official RELUX Certified Trainer. Finally, he is an Associate Editor in the scientific journal Journal of Daylighting, (Solarlits ISSN: 2383-8701), Editorial Board in Buildings IF 3.324 (MDPI, ISSN: 2075-5309), Editorial Advisory Board in Heliyon IF 3.776 (Cell Press / Elsevier, ISSN: 2405-8440) and has been a Guest Editor in 3 special issues on lighting in 2 journals, Sustainability (MDPI ISSN: 2071-1050) and Electronics (MDPI ISSN: 2079-9292). He was also visiting Professor in a) University Of Applied Sciences Nuremberg, Germany, (Technische Hochschule Nürnberg Georg Simon Ohm, Faculty of Electrical Engineering – Precision Engineering – Information Technology for the years 2018 and 2019), and b) College of Engineering, Design and Art, Israel (Department of Interior Building and Environment Design, Shenkar, College of Engineering, Design and Art, Israel, 2022) and visiting researcher in a) Ehime University, Faculty of Engineering, Japan, 2014, (Networking on Environmental Safety & Sustainability Initiative for Engineering NESSIE ERASMUS MUNDUS 2012) and b) Aalto University, Department of Electrical Engineering and Automation, Espoo, Helsinki, Finland, (EARLI programme, Promoting education and research on energy efficient lighting and renewable energy for sustainable development August 2018 – February 2019
